Dear Readers & New Followers

For my readers, I will ask you a favor; I have experienced to get into WP’s spam jail in several cases in the last week, which I don’t understand, I use to write personal comments, also to avoid this jail. Will you kindly check out your spam mail and assure to free me from this jail, if you also find me in there? I appreciate my freedom so very much 🙂

For new readers, I have some advice, if you wish to get new readers and followers; Visit a lot of blogs, like and comment at posts before you just decide to follow a new blog. What I see, when you just become a new follower of my blog, without even have liked one single post, you just wish me to follow back, which I will not do in this way.

If you wish to connect with me, then comment at my posts and I will visit your blog too and maybe also like and comment at your posts, if I find something interesting.

I have been blogging since May 2013 and I do follow many blogs, more than 700, which are many blogs to try to follow up with. I do also sort out sometimes, because the blogger change their theme or they way of blogging, so I don’t find the blog interesting for me any longer. We are all developing by time, which is very natural.

I don’t follow new blogs very often any longer. I visit, maybe like and comment in many blogs, as I don’t follow, for a long time, before I decide to maybe follow this blogger. Of course there are few exceptions, if your blog are very attractive to me, maybe we share some interests or the blog is one, as I can’t resist to follow.

When you have been blogging for long time, you will get better understanding of, what I write about here. I find it rude not to visit the bloggers, as I do follow, at least sometimes. If I choose just to follow all of you back, I will never get a chance to visit the ones, as I already are following.

I do know and remember, how difficult it can feel to be a new blogger in our blogging world and just wish to get a lot of followers. This is something, as we need to earn, just like respect. Nothing is given by itself, we need to do something ourselves first.

If you write or create interesting posts, then visit and comment at others blog, you will start to connect in our wonderful community. From there you will get new followers by time. The better posts as you bring at your blog, the more followers you will get.

I do really hope to bring some understanding to new souls in our blogging world. You are more than welcome in here and we all love to connect with new souls.

Peace & Love to all of you

Irene

  1. Good advice. Such a beautiful sunrise. I would love to visit and photograph Spain someday.

    • If you visit Spain, you will not find parks, as you are used to in Maine. We do have Natural Parks, protected for animals and nature, several places in Spain.
The area, where I live, is not one of the big tourist areas, for what I’m grateful. We still have nature and not only hotels through all beach areas. Where I live, there are no hotels at the beach 🙂

  2. Irene, you don’t only create beautiful accessories but you also write beautifully. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

By the way, , sometimes i also find comments of my readers on the spam mail, perhaps because they leave some link. I don’t know, i’m not really sure why.

  3. THis was very helpful, Irene.

A lovely post Irene, as a recent prisoner of spam, I always check their now as I know it is happening to many others. Have a lovely day!

  5. I don’t think it’s possible to visit all blogs and ‘be a friend to all’. As the years have passed I’ve become forgiving to those who follow me and vice verse who can’t call often. I understand it. I too have no interest in a follow for a follow. Blogging is all about connection.
Hope you’re out of all spam jail soon.

    • Thank you Tric. Most of all I find it annoying, when new bloggers are visiting my site, don’t like or comment, but just start following my blog. Then I ask myself, why do they follow my blog? What is it, as they like at my blog? Or, do they only follow to gain a follower themselves?
I find this as a bad way to start a connection and I agree with you.

Dear Irene, you wrote a very touching post about our blogosphere. I know it’s useful to talk to people about such things and it’s helpful as well. I kindly thank you for your help to my blog, you did support me a lot and gave such useful advices. I appreacite our friendship and your kind attention! Hugs!

  7. This is a wonderful post, Irene! I agree with all you said. It is impossible to follow everyone back. Like you, I stopped following new bloggers because otherwise, I could not even visit the ones I am already following. I admire you how you make it to follow 700 blogs… that is amazing! Great advice all over. I will just check my spam folder again 😁

    • Thank you very much, Erika 🙂
I felt a need to write this post, as I get many new followers, as disappear in short time, when they find out, that I don’t follow back in this way.
Not all bloggers are writing daily, some writes maybe monthly and others when they feel for. Otherwise I would not have a chance to visit sometimes.
Thank you for checking, I love my freedom 😀

  8. Wonderful advice Irene. I’ve been blogging for 7 solid years. And it can become overwhelming. I used to read and comment on every blog I followed. I just couldn’t keep up. I read, like a post to let a blogger know I was there, and comment when I have time to do so. It does become overwhelming. Like you, I do not follow to be followed, or follow because I was followed. The point is to find interesting content. 🙂

    • Thank you Colleen. 7 years are long time to be a blogger, wow 🙂
I do also visit, comment and share at social medias, when I have the time and the post is worth it. You are right, to find interesting content are the point.

  9. Good advice Irene. Thanks for all your support over the years. 🙂

  10. Great advice Irene, I follow over 1000 blogs and it is becoming increasingly difficult to comment I have to try to do it in bits and pieces missing many posts. I have been blogging for 4 years now almost 5 and I love supporting my fellow bloggers.

    • Thank you Suzanne. You are doing great Suzanne and for such a long time 🙂
I was also up to close 1000 blogs in a time. Then I decided it was time to sort out, otherwise I wouldn’t have time for living also. It wasn’t so difficult to sort out, because we are all changing style by developing ourselves and our blogs. Now I am much more careful not to follow too fast. I love to support my fellow bloggers too.

  11. Thanks Irene. That’s good advice.

  12. Irene, I have taken to ignoring people who follow my blogs just to get me to refollow. I don’t like doing this, but it seems necessary.

    • Thank you for your support, Michael. I don’t like to act in this way either, but I really don’t understand, how people just follow a blog without even one single like first. So I do the same now.

  13. Irene, this is well written and a good topic. I have been getting a lot of people following me lately who have not liked or commented on any posts. I tend to visit them but not put any likes or comments unless they are very interesting. But I will not follow back. The picture of the sunset is stunning. Europe is so different from North America.

  14. Reblogged this on and commented:
This is a must-read for loyal followers – is this happening to you? For those of you who just follow for a follow, you should read Irene’s post as well.

  15. Hello Irene… I totally agree with you. Blogging is a constant work in progress, and building a network is a day by day job. It took me quite a while to start up, but the day the feedback started popping in, it was so rewarding that I understood it was well worth the wortk 🙂 Some people just think the “following” notifications will start coming without lifting their little finger. If I may add to the “dos and don’ts” you mentioned, I personally don’t really like being asked to follow a blog… I don’t mind a message inviting me to visit, it is often a great way to find interesting new blogs, but to receive a comment mentionning “Please follow my blog” is quite agressive to me… What about you? 🙂

  16. Excellent advice. Someting I learned along the way. By the way,I like your latest creations very much.

  17. I agree with your advice and recommendations. I like to see interaction with readers before I choose to follow blog sites to make certain a real connection exists. This doesn’t mean you have to read each and every post; it means you value the content enough to return and “check in” when a story peaks an interest. Comments show a willingness for the reader to take some time and effort adding value to the blog site as well.

I like your thinking on this subject. It’s always nice to start a new blogging experience with commonality. Have a wonderful week! 🙂

    • Thank you for your support 🙂
I have been reading your comments at many blog posts, so I do have some knowledge, before I decided to follow your blog too. One of them, who was difficult to resist 🙂

  18. Great advice Irene and thanks for spending your precious time at my bog when you can, it is always appreciated. Love you you x barbara

Irene, I really don’t blame people for wanting to acquire followers, but what is the point if your followers are not reading your work, are not interested in your blog. You are so right about this. ❤

  22. Well Scripted Irene!!

  23. Thank you so much for these suggestions, Irene. I really love that you’re focusing on the real essence of blogging. A very helpful post, indeed.

    • You are welcome. You will need patience for a while, unless you are able to create posts like the few. The same for mostly of us in here.
Visit other blogs, like and comment, but don’t expect others will follow you back, just because you follow them.
Write several good posts, as must be easy to find at your blog. Then you go and visit etc.
In this way, you have something interesting to offer new readers and maybe followers too in another time.
