I use to be calm and mostly positive in mind, but today I got an update at my Android from WordPress and this has made me very frustrated
I do have a smartphone, as mostly people have by now. Here I have installed several applications, as I use to use. All these applications are taking up much space in my mobile, which can slow everything down, if I don’t control, who are allowed to give sound by messages
I use to check my phone, when I’m out or away from my PC and have time. Here I check my WordPress for messages and answer if I have time
Today I received an update for WordPress and after this took down my mobile, it wouldn’t work or do anything, I decided to restart and see, if that helped. It did, but now I receive a sound like a message as sms, Whatsapp, Telegram or E-mail, every time someone like one of my posts or comment at one of my posts
This I find very annoying and very frustrating, because I do receive many messages and I use to be happy to SEE these messages either at my mobile or my PC and also to answer at these
Now I need to LISTEN to this sound all day and I thought, I got messages from family or friends in private, but NO, it was from WordPress
Then I went into the WordPress application to see, if I could take down this annoying sound, but NO, this is not possible hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I do really hope, that WordPress find out, this is a very bad way to update…
If they don’t find a solution very fast, I will need to uninstall WordPress from my mobile and by that not come online very often, as I use to
I have removed the sounds from all other applications, where I get messages very often and this function perfect for me
Have you noticed any changes at your mobiles etc.? What do you think about this?

Sorry that this message is going to make your phone go boing! It’s another un-thought-through offering from WordPress then 😦 Hope they sort it out soon.

I haven’t had this problem yet Irene. But I think I loaded WP not as an app…..I’m not sure. But I do not get bings and beeps for every notification. That has to be so annoying!
If you have a logo from WP at your mobile, you are using the app, otherwise you can use your browser, Colleen.
This started today in the morning and now after around 10 hours, I got more than enough and yes, it is very annoying.
Late last night I went to use my old notification page, and WP has disabled it. When I click on it it tells me it is disabled and gives me options to turn on phone notifiacations for EVERYTHING. I have NO desire to do that. And I am very sad I have to now use a more cumbersome and time wasting way to respond to comments. WP is making it too difficult to blog….
I agree so much, Colleen. Let us hope, they will recognize their mistakes here.

I put my PHONE – not thru a particular APP on ‘vibrate only’ with no sound. This way, I can check for messages whenever I have the time and inclination.
Thank you Linda, I do also use this sometimes, but I prefer, that I can hear, if my family or friends are writing me, so I will not allow any application to destroy this.
Most annoying! They are going to start sending all of us five wp promoted blogs per week in our inboxes. I do not like receiving unsolicited, pushy, blog promoting emails!
You are right Cindy, then we need to say no to all emails from WP too, to avoid these new ones. Why do they need to act so crazy?
Happened to me too, but when you go to “messages” or “notifications” in your phone, you can turn the notifications off at any app! I turned it off too since I don’t need to know about each comment immediately anyway!
Yes, I saw that possibility, but do you then get notifications, as you can see, when you feel like?
In their new rules they write, that they want to control in the mobile.
As far as I figured it out you get either the notifications with sound or neither of it. But since the app is on the phone you can quickly open it and see the comments and everything anyway!

Oh, I understand this so very well!!! When my phone started dinging this morning I looked at it and did not understand until I found out it was WP!

Yep, right! So I found that new way of simply turning the notifications off.

Yes and this functions fine. I do still find it annoying, when I get forced to receive such sounds for each message, don’t WP think at all, that we bloggers also have a life beside WP?
Aren’t you fancy! I think we all know I have no life outside of WP.
I do also use much time in here, but I do have other things to do, than only sitting in front of my PC all day and night 😀

Thank you, I have used Erika’s advice about turning all notifications down. Then I just need to open the application to use WP at my mobile.
