Dear Reader
You might know, that I do sell my Jewelry at both Etsy and Amazon. This is expensive companies to join, as they charge their part for me being at their platforms
I have thought about trying something new and I need your help here, before I decide what to do
I think to change my account at WP, so I will be able to sell my Jewelry directly from my blog at WordPress, which would help me to keep the prices down, as no others will get commission from my selling
Now the big question: Would you have confidence to buy directly from my blog at WordPress? Or do you prefer to use Etsy or Amazon?
Payment will be through PayPal, which I have used for many years and they give security for both buyer and seller
I hope, that you will help me by answering my questions. Thank you kindly in advance
Irene

While I don’t buy Jewelry, if it was someone I trusted like you Irene, then yes, I’d trust the WP platform.
Thank you very much for your comment Gary, it means a lot. I have been here for so many years and also sold a lot outside the shops, but this here is new to me, why I prefer to ask my readers for advice.
As long as you use Paypal, I have no issue.
Thank you for answering. I do use PayPal Annette, which I trust through many years. I use them both as a buyer and a seller every month.
Yes that’s fine Irene with PayPal should be no problem for people like myself who have bought from you before. 🙂
Thank you so much Marje. Yes, there are many of my readers, who have bought from me before and among those also readers, who bought directly without problems, so I hope, this will be possible 🙂
Your blog is obviously a shop-type blog, so I don’t see why people would have any concerns about buying from you through your blog.
In my humble opinion . . . you might upgrade your WordPress account so you can sell directly from your site, but keep Etsy and Amazon for awhile for the income just to see how blog sales go. Also share your items more on Pinterest and build up your followers. That will be the key to your success on Pinterest. Take photos of your items with gift boxes, and include things in the photo that get people thinking about gift giving for the specific holidays (Christmas, Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, etc) 🙂
Thank you for answering Robin. My blog has been a mix of many things through the years, the only thing as continue is my jewelry.
I did mind to keep my other shops for a while to see, if this will be an idea for the future or not.
Thanks for your suggestions. I have used Pinterest a lot earlier, in the last years not so much.
Pinterest is what drives the most traffic to my blog.
Good Luck! 🙂
I find it natural, that Pinterest is perfect for your blog, as you share many ideas there.
I haven’t had that much of help from Pinterest more than in the beginning years ago.
But I will try sharing there again 🙂
🙂
Works for me, Irene – have no problems using PayPal. 😊
Thank you for answering Felicia and for your positive attitude 😀
First of all, it is you, I trust. Second, I have no experience of how trustful WP is in this case. But as long as you use PayPal, I don’t see any problems.
Thanks kindly for your answer Erika ❤
All business will go directly through PayPal and outside WP, as there will open a new window to use for PayPal, when we click at this to pay.
So, in my opinion, there is nothing that should keep you from trying out WP for your jewelry, Irene.
Thank you for your kind support Erika ❤
I am happy if it was helpful 💖
It was helpful Erika ❤
😊💖
I would buy from a WP blog using Paypal, yes.
Thank you kindly for your comment Colleen ❤
I think PayPal is a secure way to pay for transactions and you are trusted. Sometimes it’s necessary to look at other options if it help you in the long run.
Thank you kindly for your support, Sylvester 🙂
You are right and I’m open to look for different options.
You’re welcome and you have my support always 😊 I am sure you’ll find the right option for you.
Thank you Sylvester 🙂
😊
I sell my books through my WP blog. And I trust them. So yes, I would buy directly from your blog! 😊
Thank you very much for telling me, Dorinda 🙂
You’re very welcome 🙂
Go for paying through WP, as you say, cuts out the middle man costs which are huge!
Thank you and yes, it will cut out a lot of expenses.
We have often thought of using WP for our wooftastic store but it was easier to set up a Shopify store than to set up our own hosting site through WP. We love, WP for blogging & instead have a link from the blog to our Shopify store. Shopify excepts all forms of payment & they have pawsome gurus to help with any issues.
Hope that helps 💜nose nudges💜
Thank you for your comment. Don’t you pay to sell at Shopify?
There is a plan fee but we started with the basic plan & of course there is a small fee for each transaction. After crunching the numbers this was best for us. There is a 14 day free trial but remember it does take some time to set up so use the time wisely if you choose to go this way😊💜nose nudges💜
Thank you for your advice, as I also will take in consideration 🙂
Good luck 😊 It’s not an easy decision with so much to consider🐾💜🐾
You are right.
Thanks for asking the question Irene! I would feel more confident buying through Etsy and Amazon. I would also pay more for your jewelry!! The quality is a surprising for such low prices. 😎
From a business perspective, I think you would get more people if you charged more and used traditional sales websites.
Thank you kindly for answering Val. From the business perspective, I follow/followed the advice to charge more, which is necessary there, but the customers have stayed away for long time, why I try to change my way of selling my jewelry, both with lower prices and now maybe through the blog too.
In times with recession people don’t buy much jewelry or other luxury items and I do wish to sell my jewelry and get them used around in our world. Another thing more is, that I wish all should be able to buy jewelry.
For some years I have sold at Amazon and Etsy. Without paying extra for ads no one see those jewelry, sad but true. Mostly visitors in my shops are directed from my blog and it has been like that since beginning.
I’m happy, that you are satisfied with the quality 😀
I would agree with the majority who would buy using your WP blog…especially since you will be using PayPal!
Thank you very much for commenting, Kirt 🙂
I wouldn’t like it without PayPal either.
Dear Irene, I know my daughter uses PayPal while I don’t shop online, my daughter will get things for me if I ask, So I know its secure and you are very trusted here Irene, So I hope as you make up your mind which way to develop your business further all falls into place for you…
Much love your way Irene.. ❤ and continued good health and happiness my friend ❤
Thank you so much for your confidence, dear Sue. The feedback as I receive from my readers help me to decide, what will be the right to do.
Much love and well wishes for you too ❤
Good to hear that Irene.. I am sure you will be guided to make the right choice.. ❤
I believe it’s always better to sell directly from your site. Etsy and Amazon are huge. You could certainly keep these sites if you already have stores there.
I think WP allows even to sell from a blog which is not .org but .com. One just needs the paid plan.
I have all certificates and it is safe for anybody to pay via website which is basically via Paypal in my case. That is extra easy to implement. People frequently pay for classes and buy some things which has price and Paypal “Buy now” or other buttons. You set the buttons as you wish and there are all kinds of options.
I know Shopify does a great job, but it is kind of pricey for me. I rather go via Paypal.
There are numerous Shop plugins on WP, there is also a lot of e-commerce plugins for website which I suppose would mostly work on a self-hosted website. Like I said before, Paypal buttons will probably work on blog on paid plan, too, but I have not tried that since I have WP .org and do everything myself. Back then there wasn’t Go daddy or whatever it’s called and similar hosts, so I started with Bluehost. Nowadays, there are numerous hosts, I suppose way cheaper than Bluehost.
I think you should definitely sell your own creations, too. Shopify is a great way to do that if the cost suits you.
Thank you very much for your comment, Inese. It is a huge help to hear from different people about what is working for them too.
I try to reduce my costs, why I have thought about using Premium at WP. It isn’t free either, but then I know the price for one year in front.
Etsy and Amazon have different ways of payment possibilities, but they are charging much, which force me to keep my prices more expensive, than I would like to.
I think, that I will try this at WP and in same time keep my shops, as I already have had for years now. Then see, how everything will go.
Thank you for your support, Inese 😀
I would trust buying from WP, Irene, especially knowing you have PayPal. Oh yes please do this!! I am 100% behind you!! xo
Thank you kindly for your support, Amy.
I think to try it out and if it will not succeed, I can close it again. Thank you ❤
“You don’t know what you can do until you at least try.” (smile)
You are so right, Amy 😀
Like lots of others have said, use Paypal and you shouldn’t have a problem. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your advice too, Cheryl 😀
Irene, I think you would be fine to sell your pieces from your blog. You can use the “simple buy” button…I think. It is not too hard to set up. I am certain that anyone who knows you would feel safe and secure to purchase here!
Blessings ❤
Thank you for your kind support, Lorrie 😀
I’m in the process now, just await some answers from WordPress, before I go for it.
I want to sell things on WP too, but I don’t know what to do with the shipping fee. I see you include in the price, but I worry if someone oversea buys from me.
I hear you, but decided to find a solution anyway. I live in Spain and do sell much to oversea, also by Etsy and Amazon. It isn’t possible to create postage by PayPal alone and if we wish more specific ways, we need to have an professional account at WordPress too. My business isn’t that big, so this is not a possibility for me.
I do send all registered to secure both the customer and myself. I have tried to send as normal post in my first year and lost much money by that.
