My life now

If you are a regular follower of my blog, you will know, that I love my family and my fur kids

Odin, my dear boy

Today I have some not so good news. My dog Odin had surgery last Monday to get removed a tumor in his mouth. Today I received the answer of the analyze of the tumor

Today Odin becomes 7 years old and today I was told, that he has an aggressive form of cancer, as already now might have damaged his brain

After much thinking, I do see signs, that he has changed his behavior through some time now. I thought of this as his age, his illness of Hip Dysplasia etc. but I didn’t mind, that this could be the results of cancer, as reason for his behavior

Unfortunately, this is the truth. This is really hard to write about, as I really love my animals, just like they were my human kids

Odin is my only dog and the only kid, as I have left in my home. I will need to send him in front of me in very short time, even if I had the hope to bring him with me to Germany, when I move to there

Last year, I needed to send my two old cats in front of me, which I wrote about here: Rainbow Bridge

After a not so happy year in 2019, I received the best gift in the end of the year, which I wrote about here: Positive News

Right now I just feel very sad, as I did hope to be able to bring my Odin to Germany in my next move, which I work hard to get fulfilled, but no…

I’m sorry, if I miss some of your posts at the moment, but this situation I don’t wish for anybody to go through

Irene

I am so sorry to hear this Irene ! I have always had dogs, still have 2, but I know what it’s like to loose one, especially when you have to make the decision to let him go…..I wish you both a lot of strenght and courage.

    • Thank you very much, Gwennie. Yes, it is hard, but what is the best for the dog, must be.

You can’t leace them in a lot of pain, can you. If you know they have no chance to survive, you have to take “that heartbreaking decision”, the only consolation you have is that you have given your dog(or cat or whatever pet) a good life.

        • I don’t let any of my animals suffer, Gwennie. I do exactly, as my vet have told me to right now. When it is the time, I go with him and stay with him, until all is ended. I would never just leave him by the vet alone.

I’ve been there several times and I wouldn’t even think of letting my dog alone in his last moments. I’ll be thinking of you.

            • Thank you. I needed to say goodbye to my two old cat brothers last year by the vets help too and they became 16 years old. Odin is so young yet.
I have had said goodbye to other animals earlier, but I feel it tough every time.

  19. Irene, I have tears in my eyes. My heart just breaks for you! Bless you, dear friend!! I know what you are going through right now and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone! I’ll keep you close in my heart and prayers. Odin is too young in my opinion to have cancer! (((HUGS)))!!! xoxo

  20. I am so sorry to hear this sad news about Odin. The 2 of you have had many long walks and adventures together, but this is very had to take. Sending you hugs. ❀

    • Thank you very much, Mavis.
Yes, it is tough. Two weeks ago, I went to the vet, because I thought that Odin did have a cut in his mouth because of a bone. Then they looked at this and told me, it was a tumor, which could be both good and bad. So all are going more than fast.

  21. my dog is called Odino (Odin in Italian), too πŸ˜œπŸ‘Œ
