IMG_20160124_083231

Sunrise this morning in Spain

IMG_20160123_085925

For some days we have seen big clouds of birds at our morning walk. It is Starlings and they fly in huge groups

IMG_20160123_090747

As you see, they land at the cables and sit there to study, where now to fly

IMG_20160123_085814

They fly down at the Artichoke fields in groups, stay there for short time and then up again

IMG_20160123_085954

I tried my best to zoon to see them better and you can see all the colors as they also have

IMG_20160123_085745

I hope that you enjoyed our little walk

I do have a cold and bronchitis at the moment and will not be much online, before I feel better again. It is a very bad time now in the middle of my move, but I hope the best.

IMG_20160110_083000

You can see the mountains in the background, they are far away from here and my mobile camera has problems to catch them good even we I zoom

Artichokes in Spain – 6 Photos

IMG_20151118_082157

Short time ago I showed you photos from the fields with Artichokes. Then there were no flowers to see and now they are almost ready for start harvesting again. The areas with Artichokes are very big and I did photograph from different places at our morning walk

IMG_20151118_082240IMG_20151118_082322IMG_20151118_082138IMG_20151118_082147

Many people don’t know, how to prepare Artichokes, so they will be very delicious to enjoy. I bring one of my recipes, as use to be a nice way to enjoy them

If you can afford to buy many, while they are fair in price, I will recommend you to serve them alone as a first dish. Otherwise use them together with your other food

Bring a big pot to boil with water and 1 spoon of salt

When the water is boiling, put the washed Artichokes in the water, cover the pot and let it boil around 20 minutes. If your Artichokes are very big, boil for 30 minutes.

While the Artichokes are boiling, you prepare butter in slices for each to use beside the artichokes. If you like, you can create butter with green spices.

Let the Artichokes drip of in a colander and place them in a big plate.

I enjoy the Artichokes by taking one leaf a time, place a little butter at this and suck out, what is inside the leaf together with the butter. The bottom of the Artichokes is a delicatesse, enjoy this with butter too.

I hope, you will enjoy Artichokes, just as I do 😀 IMG_20151118_082230

Late walk in Spain yesterday – 20 Photos

Odin was kind to sit model for me, while I wished to show you, how big the Orange Trees are here

Remember that you can enlarge the photos by clicking at them

IMG_20151016_184907

There are several plantages with Orange Trees in this area, where we walk in Spain. The once without fence, as we see here, are the sour Oranges, which are used for sour juice. I tried to taste one last year and I will not repeat that test this year…

Sometimes we meet a old shephard here walking with his many sheeps and dogs to help him. We haven’t met him for a while, but he is walking all day with the sheeps, so one day we will meet him again

IMG_20151016_185111 IMG_20151016_185228

This area is very well kept and there are many orange at the trees.

You can see the fence around in beton here. It was here I met the big snake in the Spring, as I think was a python. It was around 3 meters – 9,84 Ft and thick like an arm. I’m grateful for not having met this one again. With the many rabbits as we have here, it can survive without problems. Why do some people let out such an animal in our nature, where they don’t live natural? I don’t understand that.

IMG_20151016_185305 IMG_20151016_185355

Odin was testing the oranges, as were at the soil, but he doesn’t like orange

This Olive tree is not kept, stand in a wild area, where no one take care. It is really huge and this year filled with olives

Here you see a big field with Artichokes. They are growing very well and will soon give fruit again

Odin is looking at some Lemon Trees in lines here, very well kept area

IMG_20151017_082906

Just beside the Artichokes there are a wild and not kept area, where there are both Orange and Clementine Trees and both are very delicious, I took fruit down there in last harvest time. The fruits are not so big, because no one take care, but they are very tasteful

Artichokes in Spain

IMG_20150414_180937

I was inspired to create this post from a new friend in here, Melissa from The Aran Artisan, who wrote a post about Artichokes and how they enjoy this delicious vegetable. She has a wonderful blog, as you should visit. As she writes: Making a living by creating every aspect and ingredient of daily life

In the area where I have been living since September last year, we have a large field with artichokes, as I did photograph yesterday to show you today. The field are more than large and they have been cutting the flowers since I arrived and they continue to cut 1-2 times per week. I have never before seen artichokes in so large a field.
